Family VIsit

Griffin Is Here~
My birthday started quite early, 5:30 in fact, with a call from my good friend, Kent, who on realizing how much I enjoyed the outdoors decided to make cinnamon rolls, hot cocoa and drive me up to a beautiful hiking spot before the sun even rose!

It was a cold hike, the mist was dark and the light had not even started coming over the horizon. As we hiked higher, into the pine trees, a cold bitter wind picked up and blew past our faces. The cold sweat on our bodies froze, yet we continued to hike. Up on the precipice, the morning mists flowed up over the top, like dawn rushing up to meet the new day. It was inspiring, calming, awakening, awesome! It was God in the silence. It was Love. His love.

Last night we went to the Intervarsity bible study and had a fun time talking about Gods' healing forgiveness. It was great to introduce Grffin to everyone and I'm sure everyone thought Griffin was a great kid.

Today, we've got a big plan coming up involving the math class, the architecture class, a photography hike, and finally the large group Intervarsity. It should be an enjoyable day and I look forward to the weekend as the Austins are arriving.

Week Three

Week number 3 for Winter quarter is now offically done. I
am moving forward and it contiunues to be a challenging and worthwhileexperience. Everything from cycling 60 miles to studying chemistry to visiting 'Grandma' Austin, and even exploring thebeach called Los Osos, or as Mother and I called it, 'Los Ososososososo'.
Its been a fun week, busy but full of life. Real Life issues, like study tactics and personal expectations, are shaping who I am and my walk with God. I feel more confident in relying on the knowledge that God's love
and forgiveness are all that I need.

Surprisingly, this certainty in turn has given me the confidence to ask around for study partners. God provided! Alex Guzman is a Freshman, like me, and quick witted, but thats not all! He's also about the same paced studier as me. Amazingly enough, Alex is also in my Calculus class so whenever we get togehter we kill two birds with one stone. It has been awesome helping each other and getting the other to focus when one of us is tired. It is a nice break from the 20,000 other geniuses on campus when I work with Alex.

My days are filled but I am glad to be playing, learning and living for the glory of God. Whether it is through cycling or studying or tutoring my
friend in Calculus, I know it is all for His GOOD purpose.

Hot Springs in SLO

As my Mother and I drove down the twisty road somewhere outside the San Luis Obispo city limits, we peered out the from window - rain pounded on the roof drenching all the earth about us with new life and deep hydration. It was early Sunday afternoon that we found our selves searching for the Avila Hots springs, imagining the warm mineral water baking our relaxed bodies was all we were thinking about and nothing was going to stop us.

As we soon realized, Avila springs has seen better days and it is quite rundown. Yet for only $8 one can spend the day soaking in 104 degree water while enjoying quiet, peaceful relaxation.

We had to be careful for our eyes because the rain kept splashing sulfur up in our eyes, which made it slightly uncomfortable. Though we don't recommend Hot Springs in the rain, we enjoyed the misty forest landscape and its cooling effect. We had a great experience so it was easy to forget the rain in our eyes.

Upon arriving back at our hotel, we fell asleep, completely comatose for an hour and a half! It was a wonderful break from my busy school life and my Mother's fidelity to her parents care. Even with the poor weather conditions we both agree the experience is worth doing again. I highly recommend it to anyone who comes through San Luis Obispo.

Computer Programing For The MIND!

Hey Yall,
So today I was programming in VBA and we came up with some pretty cool programs. Here, you can see we
programed 3 different subroutines, which, If you plug them into your pc's excel program, Visual Basic, will do all sorts of cools things! Like calculate Pi to infinite, find the area of a circle, or find the coordinates of a parabola! Click on the link above(In the title) to see instructions.

Sub 3.14r2()
Dim n As Integer
Dim msg As String
msg = "All Done."
n = InputBox("Enter Radius Value")
Sheets.Add
For n = 1 To n
ActiveSheet.Cells(n, 1) = n
ActiveSheet.Cells(n, 2) = n * 3.14 * n
Next n
MsgBox msg
End Sub

Sub FarinhietCelcius()
Dim n As Double
Dim c As Double
Dim msg As String
msg = "All Done."
n = InputBox("Max Positive Integer")
Sheets.Add
c = 0
n = 21
For n = 1 To n
x = n - 1
c = x * 5
ActiveSheet.Cells(n, 1) = c
ActiveSheet.Cells(n, 2) = c * 9 / 5 + 32
Next n
MsgBox msg
End Sub

Sub xy2()
Dim RW As Double
Dim x As Double
Sheets.Add
RW = 21
For RW = 1 To RW
x = RW - 1
ActiveSheet.Cells(RW, 1) = x ^ 2
ActiveSheet.Cells(RW, 2) = -x
ActiveSheet.Cells(RW, 3) = x
Next RW
End Sub

Cycling - Link to Ride Map

At the Top of the Grade
Saturday, January 09, 2010

I spent most of the day cycling up the coast on a 55.0 Mile bike ride. There were a little over 15 riders and we finished just a little before 12 pm, making it a very fast 4-hour ride. I kept up front and felt confident about my strength, which was mostly due to last quarter’s spin classes. I am readjusting quite well. Better, in fact, than last quarter, where I was a part of 4 bible studies, 6 clubs, (Toastmaster, robotics, SME, Super Miler, Wheelman, and intramural sports ) and taking night classes! To say the least, I was under a lot of pressure.

After taking three weeks off for an exciting Christmas break, I came back ready for more action. But now, fully aware of my own personal limits (sarcasm is one of the many free services I offer) I decided to stick with two simple ideals.

1) 1) Only spend time meeting new people, if I have already spent quality time with my present “friends”.

2) 2) Stick with no more then 3 club/activities. EG: Sailing, Road Biking, and 1 Bible study.

These simple yet life-altering methods to staying alive are what I have found to be important. I hope to spend more time getting good grades, building relationships with good friends, and developing a good character.
